I have known Bobby Jay for over 30 years. He is a true hockey professional. A person who knows how to communicate with young players and help them realize their ultimate potential.

Bobby has played and coached at every level of the game. He understands a player's strengths and weaknesses. His calm demeanor teaching the game will resonate with your son or daughter. He is precise in his message, which comes from a lifetime of experience. I don't think there is a better role model for kids on and off the ice than Bobby Jay.

I’ve had the privilege of working with many high character people in my 33 years of professional hockey. Very few have the knowledge, the passion and the ability to communicate like Bobby Jay has. His joy for the game is apparent in everything he does.

LOVE WORKING WITH
BOBBY JAY!

I had the opportunity to be coached by Bobby on the 2014 US Olympic Team as well as the 2016-2017 Boston Pride in the NWHL. Not only is Bobby an outstanding coach but his ability to connect and relate to the players is impressive as well.
Bobby’s knowledge of the game is tremendous. I can recall countless situations in practices or games when I played for him where I would learn and become a better player in a matter of minutes because of a conversation with him or a tip he would give me on the bench.
One of the most impressive things to me about Bobby is his ability to thrive and perform in all types of situations and team cultures. I think that speaks to his confidence and ability to pull the best out of players regardless of age, sex, skill level and passion, etc.

I have known Bobby since 1993 when he played for me with the Phoenix Road Runners. Since that time, Bobby has been in my employ in various positions including: Assistant Coach, Scout, and General Manager of the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.
I value and admire Bobby’s “hockey mind” as much as anyone in this business. His fundamental “hockey knowledge” is enhanced by his ability to teach. He has the ability to work with individuals on both their strengths and weaknesses.
In this day and age, a successful coach needs to know how to teach, as well as what to teach and to whom. When coaching for me in the AHL Bobby’s understanding of the game and knowing what to develop were vital in an environment in which he had to develop young players to get ready for the NHL.

Coach Jay recruited me out of Minnesota High School Hockey, and at the time, there was not a strong precedent set for players in the area to head to the East Coast to play at the collegiate level. His personality, character, and passion for the game were major influences in my decision to commit to Harvard. He made me, and my family, very secure in the belief that I would be developed and cared for during my collegiate career.
It was very evident that he deeply cares about his players. He was always approachable and looking out for our best interests. These traits led to unanimous respect and admiration for him from our team. His extensive playing and coaching career have provided him a deep knowledge of the game and his style of communication allowed him to effectively transfer that knowledge to our team. This led to players individually improving, as well as, our team as a whole.
Coach Jay was instrumental in my transition from a young hockey recruit enrolling at an academically rigorous university on the East Coast to a successful student and player.

I have sent all three of my boys to Bobby Jay for many, many years for personal hockey training. My oldest is currently playing D1 for Princeton University and is a draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins. My middle son is a varsity player in his sophomore season at St. Sebastian’s School in Needham, MA, and my youngest is an 8th grader at St. Sebastian’s. To have the opportunity to spend this kind of personal time with someone that has the experience and understanding of the game like Bobby Jay is priceless.
What is most impressive about Bobby is that he offers my boys so much more than hockey lessons. He’s a teacher first—then a hockey coach. When I drop any of my kids off with him, I know they are learning to be the best they can be—whether on the rink or off. Sure, things like grit, perseverance, desire, and integrity are all skills that help in the game of hockey, but when taught by Bobby they become life skills that these boys need. Plus, and most importantly, they are being delivered by someone that these boys respect, and that is what makes all the difference. In my experience I can confidently say you will be hard pressed to find anyone better to teach your son or daughter.
